Growing Talent was launched in 2004 & created from a conversation between Jane James & Jon Barnes. Jon was involved in several conservations with many different businesses which provide services & goods. Jon was told by businesses they find it hard to recruit the "right talent" for their business. Jane decided there should be a solution to this problem.
Due to the vast amount of work experience programmes, Growing Talent had to stand out to businesses & find talent for those businesses. Growing Talent focuses on these areas which makes it successful: A selection process, orientation week, placement in a job vacancy (with weekly apprisals), holistic week and most importantly a full time job upon completion of the course. The course lasts for 6 weeks.
Fill out the application form. You will asked for a conversation with Jane about your personality. If the conversation goes well, you will be put through to the next step.
Talk to each employer look for talent for vacant roles. Ask & answer questions & talk about your personality. You be selected based on personality & ability to grow within the role.
A police vetting check is conducted to make sure you are suitable for work & represent the company. The police vetting checks several information such as criminal convictions & background checks.
Orientation week is a week designed to build up your self-esteem and workplace ethics. Some topics include body language, team challenges, communication skills and at the end of the week create a social enterprise idea.
Three weeks in the job role. Work within a team, learn how the company works, the software & the clients they deal with. A appraisal is filled out at the end of each working week.
A week aimed to learn soft skills. Halfway through the programme, you will learn skills such as nutrition, fitness & more. A mental health course is done & you get a Mental Health First Aider Certificate.
The final week in the job. You will be given the job full time, based on how you performed in the job. A graduation cememory takes places in December for all the people who completed the programme.
